    Hi,
I have had this exact same issue which sometimes makes my game unplayable for ages :x
The only solution I found was to restart my computer, this mosly fixes the issue. Also load the disk and wait for the game launcher to open, sometimes it can take 5 minutes or more.
If you force the game launcher by clicking the sims3 icon on your desktop or wherever it is, I find that I have this 'disk not found' issue.
It is NOT my dvd drive. It is the game.
Anyway, I hope these tips help. I was hoping it would stop when I eventually by WA, but it doesn't seem like that will happen

I have it too... It so annoying.
I sorta resolved it by taking the disk in and out. It did work.. for a while.
Somtimes took me 6 minutes. But now it says
    'Disc Authentification Failure
No game disc found! Please insert The Sims 3 World Adventures game disc before proceeding. '
    and when i click off-
'The process could not be started'

OK KIDS WE GET IT! YOU HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM! HOW ABOUT A SOLUTION INSTEAD OF ' omg i have the same problem, my world is going to end'

ashleyfm03 - did you install ANY software that may use disc drive redirecting - daemon tools, Roxio, etc.? This problem seems to affect certain optical drive manufacturers as other makes never seem to have this problem. There is a way to make the disc so it can't be copied. Unfortunately some optical drives seem to have trouble with this technique. Another problem is if I burn a disc at X16 speed and you go home and try to read this disc in your X12 optical drive it probably won't read. This problem should not happen with pressed discs and the problem may be traced to the way the discs are mass produced. All I know for sure is replacement of the drive usually fixes the problem.
    Things to check:
Can you explore the disc with windows explorer?
Does the disc work in another computer?
Is the disc dirty or scratched?
I do not work for EA nor do I have any association with EA. I am a gamer helping other gamers.

Put in the Sims 3 PETS disc. The Expansion Packs are just that...EXPANSIONS. They build on each other. You will always use the most recently released EP or SP disc to play your game. You will still have all the features of any earlier games. So...once you install pets, you will not only have pets, but also all the content and game play that came with Generations. You don't have to choose which EP to play. You can play them all at the same time.

I am having this same problem. But I have the proper game disc in there. My last installed expansion is Pets, and that's the CD I'm using. And there's no way it could be damaged. It's always either in the computer or in its case.

    Hi,
You can try out the following troubleshooting steps to fix the disc detection issue:
1 - Look at your disc and verify you do not have a faulty or scratched up disc.
2 - Make sure your DVD drive does not have any discs in it.
    3 - Quit all programs.
4 - Click on the Start Menu.
5 - Click on Control Panel.
    6 - Double-click on the System icon.
7 - Make sure your Control Panel is set to Classic View. If not, click on the Switch to Classic View option.
8 - Click on the Hardware tab.
9 - Click on Open Device Manager.
10 - Click on the '+' sign next to DVD/CD-ROM drives to expand its options.
11 - You should see all your DVD/CD ROMS.
12 - Right-click on the DVD ROM you are using to play the game.
13 - Select Uninstall from the list of options.
14 - Reboot your computer immediately.
Give your computer a few minutes to re-detect your DVD drive (this should happen automatically). Insert the game disc and try to play your game again.

I'm scared...if I uninstall it, it will detect it again FOR SURE right? I can't afford a a bigger problem...

We all seem to have the same issue. I have tried the uninstall and your computer WILL find the disk drive again. I have been hounding EA for almost three days now and they give me a run around and want us all to get a digital copy but as far as I know you need permanent internet connection to play.... Well we all don't always have internet.... Currently waiting for Tech support, they really don't know jack, will post my results. Any updates please drop in.
    P.S.
I have gotten it to work before with a large failure rate but the game will load and stay up no matter what save for a reboot or shut down. You have to fiddle with the DVD drive (laptop only) like pushing in and out, then list to how the disk runs. A fast steady spin will clue you to it starting. Then after you get it up and running just don't close out.... Probably till they figure out there is no sunshine where they have their heads.
Update* The techie just left me hanging told me to run an uninstall and no fix. I am going to have that techie's head.

    Hi there,
just installed the SIMS3 & the Late Night expansion pack (original) but having some issues with launching the game. As my CD/DVD drive is corrupt, had to transfer the installation .exe to my USB stick and run the installation from there which worked fine (without any errors) but now cannot launch the game. All I have is an error message:
No game disc found. Please insert The SimsTM 3 Late Night game disc before proceeding.
Having no CD/DVD drive makes it hard to process the mentioned command. Can someone please help me?
    Best regards,
    TEO

I/we also have this problem. After three sessions totalling 10 HOURS none of the techs or managers have a clue as to a resolution. On top of that, some of the screens say 'BETA'.
    Whata company...

This all sounds promising save for one thing, I'm on a Mac. I'll admit some amount of relief that I'm not the only one having this issue, but that does nothing to solve the issue. I really miss playing my game! I have even tried buying a new external dim drive just to make sure it wasn't my disk reader. The disk shows up now, but the only thing that will open is the installer... Really rather not have to go that route again (AGAIN) - Any advice? Am I going to have to re-install? The disk shows up, but when I go to play it asks me to insert the disk. The latest disk is not only in the reader, but it's icon is visible. I'm at a bit of a loss.
I'm not looking forward to all that time re-installing, updating, re-dowloading purchased items, and still facing the risk of this occurring yet again as this is not the first time I've had to re-install lately.
Does anyone know if re-isntalling (again) would even make a difference?
Is there anything else I can try??
Any extra advice would be much appreciated.

I have a sims3 game and i bought 2 more sims3 games, late night and generations and i first install generations; it installed well. Then i installed late night it installed well too; but when i press 'play sims3' it says 'no disc found! Please insert the sims3 generation before proceeding.' Why? When i do what it says and i play sims3, everything is combined like the furniture, lessons and more.
    Please can anyone help me?

That's how it works. Generations and Late Night are expansion packs and you get all content for both of them as well as the base game. Since Generations came out last, that's the disk you put in. If you were to buy Showtime or Pets, you would use any of those (Showtime is the newest).

o ok thx but how come the trailer of LN looks like it has a different town. And when i play Sims3 it still has the town sunset valley, isn't it supposed to have bulidings? (i have gen. and LN installed together)

Sunset valley is unchanged with those expansions. You would want to start a new game in Bridgeport or you can add high rises in edit town mode.
Generations didn't come with a town, I think there is a park and maybe some houses but that's it for town stuff. It was mostly new items and interactions.
